I’m wondering how much you think the loss of truth societally has affected people’s discernment on when they are and aren’t being honest. These guys are two public examples of lost truth an honesty, but lately I feel like my brain is wired to trace a lot back to algorithms that have deformed us, AI that has been sycophantic, and generally the digital yuck that we just live with and let inside. Idk. Kind of rambling but I appreciate our community here, you’re part of mine, so I would love to hear your thoughts on that connection.
That is a really good question that deserves an entire conversation.
I have a lot of thoughts but in essence, I do believe the loss of truth societally has had a detrimental impact on ourselves. In our "you do you" world, any judgment (rightly or not) is seen as "judgy" or arrogant, so we've largely just let deception alone and just affirm each other, surrounding ourselves with Yes men, and now AI just 10x that.
It's clear in these 2 examples that they actually genuinely believe they're not that wrong, they're upset people are making it a big deal. They've lied to themselves for so long they can't even tell anymore.
Great stuff, Randy. I’m with you in desiring integrity. And also in not always living the way I desire to be. Precisely why repentance is so necessary. The humility doesn’t always feel good, but it always is good. 😎
I noticed letting it sting from the small inconsistencies being confronted builds something in you that's not there yet, something you couldn't have without it. Character. And the Holy Spirit is the helper in that

I’m finishing a book (who isn’t?) and these are some topics I tried to hit. There’s a lot to think deeply about here.

Yeah it rarely feels good in the moment but this is the only way times of refreshing will come
